From: winpeterson@netzero.net (Winifred Peterson)
DearMYRTLE,
I have had this information for a couple of years; never used it but kept it for future use.  Hope it will be helpful to someone. Enjoyed your talk as always... Winifred

Subject: Dollars to Pounds
Beverly J Reich wrote: Two  Nottingham civil offices have asked that, in order to fill my requests for data/copies, I send payment in pounds sterling or by international money order. The amount involved in either case is under $10. US commercial banks in my city don't handle this type of exchange, I'm told (too small); and Thomas Cook charges more than double that for processing the exchange. Can anyone help with a practical method for effecting small exchanges? Gotta be a way!

RUESCH International Monetary Services, Inc., are recommended by many people as providing the cheapest and most convenient way of sending small payments abroad from USA and UK. In USA they have offices in Washington, D.C. New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Phone 1-800-424-2923 and tell them what currency and how much of it you want and they will inform you of the cost. The conversion fee is three dollars. You then mail them a cheque for the dollar amount and they will send you their cheque in whatever currency you have requested in return.

And here was another solution that was posted to the list: (From John Poxon)
My solution to the problem of paying for goods in pounds, is to have a small bank (cheque) account in England with the HSBC/Midland Bank.  It pays a small interest rate, and I top it up when international rates are favourable. When I want to buy something in England I simply write a cheque against that account, which of course is in pounds, and post it off with my order.

DearWINIFRED,
As we talked at the Manasota PAF Users Group yesterday, some stated they are reluctant to use a credit card over the phone or the internet. Thanks for pulling up this information from you files. RUESCH has been around for years, and I have only heard glowing reports from those who've used its services.
