Animated Menus Bug Readers

DearREADERS,
Two of you wrote with the same question that one of my computer students posed this week. Must be our week to finally learn to use Microsoft Office Suite's Word 2003? The question revolves around how to shut off the "short menu" option that comes up by default when first clicking on FILE, EDIT, VIEW, INSERT, FORMAT, TOOLS, etc. This version of Word provides the short list, and then in a few seconds, the full drop-down menu appears. This is very unnerving to people. There are two solutions:

PERMANENTLY SHUT OFF ANIMATED MENUS:

1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
2. Click the Options tab.
3. In the Menu animations list, click the menu animation you want to use. In your case you want to click to insert a check mark for "ALWAYS SHOW FULL MENUS" as illustrated below:

TEMPORARILY PROVIDE FULL MENUS:

1. DOUBLE click (yes double-click) when clicking on the words FILE, EDIT, VIEW, or etc. as illustrated below:

Happy family tree climbing!
