Hispanic Mexican Genealogy Research Assistance

From: Char Cole stuartcole@gtcinternet.com
DearMYRTLE,
Please recommend a few Professional Genealogists who are experienced in Hispanic Mexican Genealogy. I do not speak Spanish and am having a very difficult time tracing my Hispanic Perez line. I have gone back to 1759 to Hacienda de Guadalupe, Villa Marin, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. But, I have hit an impasse--I need some professional help. Thank you very much.

DearCHARMAINE,
Sounds like you've been doing some excellent research. Whenever I recommend a professional researcher, I refer readers to two groups:

-- Board for Certification of Genealogists http://www.bcgcertification.org/

-- ICAP-Gen (for a list of "accredited" professionals) http://icapgen.org/

-- Whenever anything comes up regarding Hispanic research, I highly recommend getting in touch with Mimi Lozano of Somos Primos: http://www.somosprimos.com/ Mimi's email address is: mimilozano@aol.com. Please note that "In 2004, Somos Primos was invited to assist in organizing the first conference on Hispanic heritage ever held at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. "Hispanics and the Formation of the American People." During 2005 we are facilitating 6 heritage events." See: http://www.somosprimos.com/nara/nara.htm

Happy family tree climbing!
