NGS Nashville 1-4 June 2005

DearREADERS,
Please plan to attend at least one nationally-ranked genealogy conference each year. How about Nashville, 1-4 June 2005? Your research process will improve tremendously.
National Genealogical Society
PRESS RELEASE

Arlington, VA, April 8, 2005

The National Genealogical Society will be holding its 27th Annual Conference
in the States and GENTECH 2005 at the Nashville Convention Center,
Nashville, TN from 1-4 June, 2005.

The NGS Conference in the States and GENTECH 2005 brings together genealogists and family historians - people who have done research all of their lives and those who have only recently become interested, professionals, and non-professionals - who have a common desire to learn
more about how to find those tidbits of history which refer to their ancestors.

The overall program is designed to focus attention on success, teaching
methodology and how to overcome adversity, while experiencing the marvels of
your family history. You will find the tools to speed your research both in
the sessions and the exhibit hall. Workshops let you experience many of the
tools personally. It is hard to express the sheer multitude of opportunities
available in Nashville. Not only will you be able to take advantage of the
fantastic program; there are also libraries, museums, and repositories
available for personal research. Individuals new to genealogy will benefit
from the networking that goes on throughout the conference, as will
professionals who will find the networking invaluable.

Educational sessions include tracks on Ethnic & Religious, Regional, Land,
GENTECH, State and Local Government Records, Board of Certification of
Genealogists (BCG), Military, Methodology, and Basics.

The Opening Session will feature Sean O'Duill from Ireland with his
entertaining and informative talk on "The Courtship Dance: Matchmaking and
Weddings in 19th Century Ireland". Elizabeth Shown Mills, CG, CGL, FNGS,
FASG will be the NGS Banquet speaker on Friday 3 June, 2005 with "A Funny
Thing Happened on the Way to the Podium: The Misadventures of a Genealogical
Lecturer!" There will also be a Librarian's Program on Tuesday 31st May,
2005 at the Nashville Public Library.

In additional to the educational sessions and lectures, there will be many
opportunities to take part in local tours, and the local host society, the
Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society, will be hosting an event on
Wednesday, 1st June, 2005 at the Tennessee State Museum.
