Problems with Mortality Schedule Microfilms

RE: US Census Mortality Schedules

From: pmorrow pmorrow@sbcglobal.net
DearMYRTLE,
The last name of the persons listed in so many of the Mortality Schedules is not visible. Is there a plan to have these records recopied?

DearMORROW,

The federal government provides the mortality schedules in microfilm format. It is from these that Ancestry is providing the scanned images online. Often when filming, the top and bottom edges of the page are caught in the shadows. I doubt the National Archives is planning to spend the money to re-microfilm anything.

Happy family tree climbing!
