DORINNE CAMPBELL'S WRINKLES OR NOT? (PHOTO EDITING)
Using Adobe Home Version 3 (that came with her digital camera) - Dorinne has accomplished remarkable things! See below the results of scanning in very faded photos of Elsie's sister Dorothy Barks (born 28 October 1907 & died 1 March 1998 in Rhode Island.) OK, so the software wasn't used to turn the ballerina around, but it was used very effectively to darken, and enhance. Come to the meeting Saturday to see the originals, and compare!

Anna Morgan's Challenges of Sending Photos to non-AOL E-Mail addresses
Basically here, we find the difference between embedding a photo in the text portion of AOL E-Mail (which works great with other AOL e-mail addresses):
or the alternative attaching a file which works better with all e-mail programs (including non-AOL). Its also wise to attach only 1 file, although as the AOL E-Mail Attachments screen below clearly implies that multiple attached files will go through just fine. There is no mention of file capacity problems which cause the e-mail to fail.
Remember that your scanner or digital camera software may wish to save files in its peculiar file format, which other computers cannot read, unless they have the same software. For best results, when saving newly scanned and digitized photos, use one of the following standard graphic file formats, from this prioritized list:

Chuck Fitzgerald's Dilemma -- Which ISP Should Snowbirds Use? From: cdfitzg1@juno.com (Charles D. FitzGerald)
"Because many of the members are "snowbirds", some of them use different internet providers in their two locations. Obtaining E-mail from one provider at the other location is a bit strange, and good instructions on the procedure might be of interest.
I use Juno here in Manatee County, Florida because Epix does not serve outside Pennsylvania's northeast and Juno is no longer a toll call from Ellenton, Florida. Don't want to use Juno in Pennsylvania because it is a toll call each time E-Mail or Internet is to be used. Compree?"DearCHUCK,
Certainly your question is of broad interest to anyone of us who plan to travel to do research, while still remaining in touch with our family & friends via e-mail. At our meeting we'll do a marker-board discussion of the finer points of free & fee based internet access & e-mail communications.Basically, your BEST solution is to use a 3rd party internet-based e-mail service such as:
Then your e-mail address remains the same, but your access point is through whatever free local service (including the public library) your choose anywhere you happen to be living (or visiting) in the world at anytime throughout the year!
LINDA SMITH'S MAC DOES GREAT BOOK PUBLISHING! (Linda Smith Llsdarien@aol.com will share her neat printed family history using "Reunion" genealogy software on her Macintosh computer.)
OK, so this is the century you are going to FINALLY print that family history in book form! We need to talk about the particulars, and have we got a great example for you to follow! A newer member of our group & former kindergarten teacher, Linda Smith is using her talents to create family history books for family members detailing her research findings. Myrt saw it last month at another meeting, and felt you all just HAVE to see this in person! When asked to make overhead transparencies of key elements, Linda reports she has tried to pull samples of a variety of pages from her family file, such as: cover, introduction, generation chart, fan chart, source lists, cemetery photos, a page from plat book, and news clippings. -- See this neat project at the meeting Saturday!
