Myrt's NEW Copyright
Policy
DearREADERS,
Thanks so much for the great letters you've written
over the years that have prompted me to write this daily
genealogy column. It seems particularly now that there are
thousands more readers out on the Internet, I have lately
been deluged with requests to reprint these copyrighted
materials.
So to answer everyone's questions, I've devised the following
guidelines:

New Policy about Columns
DearREADERS,
Bowing to the overwhelming number of requests from genealogy teachers and family history center directors, I like to make the following change in policy concerning my column.
Individual DearMYRTLE columns may be copied in their entirety from time to time provided:
1. The column is not material such as a press release under copyright by another entity.
2. The use of the column is for noncommercial, educational purposes.
3. The attribution includes:
DearMYRTLE, your friend in genealogy.
www.DearMYRTLE.com
Hopefully, this will free up my time spent answering your e-mail requests, and let me get back to writing. After all, the purpose of this column is to help people get going on their family history. TOGETHER we can get this thing done! THANK-YOU for considering my work.
Warmest regards!
Myrt :)
PS Yes, this means individuals may occasionally cross-post a column on a publicly available genealogy mail list, provided it does not infringe on rules of "spamming." Individuals assume responsibility for such cross-postings that appear under their e-mail address & subscription.

SUGGESTIONS
FOR QUOTING A COLUMN IN A WEB PAGE:
This is the
preferred method for inviting folks to see what I've
written on a particular subject. You'd merely take the
title and author of the article, and add a hyperlink to
the URL (web address of the article). Something like:
DearMYRTLE's
"Picking
green beans yesterday"
or
"Picking
green beans yesterday" by DearMYRTLE
This way, as I update a web page article, it will
automatically be updated at your site including all the
latest hyperlinks and most recent thinking on the
subject. As a matter of courtesy, do let me know that you
made the link! THANKS!
Citing other
sources for further reading is an excellent method of
extending your reader's learning experience. It is lately
very confusing when it comes to citing Web pages. Here's
how you might include a listing of Myrt's suggestions for distributing
genealogy society newsletters:
