DearMYRTLE,I am sending you pictures of two heirlooms belonging to a member of the DuVal Family Association
Blue Perfume Bottle. This perfume bottle belonged to Philadelphia DuBois DuVal, a French Huguenot who married Daniel DuVal, also a French Huguenot. She escaped from France disguised as a boy and fled to England where Daniel had gone a few months earlier. They sailed to America in December, 1700 aboard the ship "Le Nassau" and arrived at the James River in Virginia on
March 5, 1701.
In recent years the bottle developed a small crack at the top and a silver band was placed around it to prevent further cracking.
Lace Bow. This lace bow was also brought to Virginia by Philadelphia DuBois DuVal. It is now framed and belongs to the same person who has the bottle. In 1935 the bow was worn on the dress of a descendent on the occasion of her 50th wedding anniversary.
Both the bottle and the bow are on display on the DuVal Family Association
